Next northern soul night- Friday 10th April

60s Northern Soul ! Wonderful basement venue, wonderful people & of course wonderful music, as good as you’ll hear at almost any Soul Nite in the country ;-) Semi known, underplayed, quality oldies. Special Guest this month is Alan “H” Handscombe, one time resident at the much missed Capital Soul Club, still DJing all over, as well of course at his great night in London RnB123 club. Des Parker, Stuart Tyler, Shane Cox & Dave Greenhill are the resident DJs & you can be sure of hearing a great mix of 60s Northern all on ORIGINAL vinyl of course. 5 DJs for a fiver ? Can’t be bad & just a 3 minute walk from Liverpool Street Railway Station / Tubes & untold number of buses.

Venue: The Shooting Star 125 Middlesex Street London E1 7JF 8pm – 12.30am £5 entry.

Next Solid Hit Soul night Friday 20th February 2015

Many Thanks to everyone who came along & made our 10th Anniversary in December such a brilliant night. Packed, great music, great atmosphere & great people of course. Many thanks to our 2 guests, Paul Cross who had people dancing from the off with a great opening spot & of course Ted Massey, what can you say ? Quality rarity after quality rarity kept the dance floor heaving & with our 4 residents delivering brilliant sets of 60s Northern a great night was had by all.

Ok into 2015 & our first night of the year is on Friday 20th February & we are delighted to have Irish Greg as our Special Guest DJ. Greg of course is very well known on the London scene being a former resident at the 100 Club Allniters & of course being part of my favourite ever soul nite, the Capital Soul Club as well as many guest appearences hither & tither. Greg seems to have cut back on DJing a bit in recent years so we’re really happy that he agreed to do a guest spot at Solid Hit & if you haven’t seen him for a while I managed to find this recent playlist below which gives an idea of the kind of quality that we can expect on the 20th.

Look forward to seeing many of you on the 20th for another night of superb 60s Northern with residents Des Parker, Stuart Tyler, Shane Cox & me Dave Greenhill + Irish Greg playing a mix of Semi Knowns, under played, current niter tunes & some quality classic oldies.
