Thanks to everybody who came along in April for your great support, another brilliant night with a packed venue, tremendous atmosphere & top quality music as always. Our guest Rob Smith was on top form keeping the floor packed with rarity after rarity. With 3 weekenders on & losing some of our regulars to each one plus others not able to be with us for various reasons I was worried that this one would be down on numbers but not a bit of it, again almost a capacity crowd, hope you all had a great night.

Next Solid Hit is coming round pretty quickly, Friday 4th June is the date and we are absolutely delighted to have one of the very top DJs in the country as our guest the fantastic Kitch. For rare top quality danceable Soul music he stands head & shoulders above almost anyone in the country & you cannot afford to miss this night.

We look forward to seeing as many of you as possible to enjoy Kitch & our Residents Des Parker, Stuart Tyler Dave Greenhill & Shane Cox for a night of  top class 60s underplayed & semi-knowns, genuine one off unreleased acetates (not some carver job that anyone can buy for 20quid) as well as top niter sounds etc. Rare or cheap it’s the quality that matters

Thanks to everyone who turned out for the last Solid Hit, an absolute packer with as good as quality underplayed/semi known etc 60s as you’ll hear at any Soul night. I know it’s a claim that many promoters may make but when the likes of Carl & Maria Willingham describe your night as one of their favourite you know that you’re doing something right

Big thanks to Carl & Maria for yet again playing a tremendous set that kept the floor heaving throughout their set & thanks for all their kind words about our club.

Next Solid Hit is Friday 30th April, which may seem a long way away but as we attract quite a few travellers they are grateful for as much warning as possible so as to get booked into hotels etc.

All resident DJs will be in attendance & our special guest has just confirmed & we will announce who it is nearer the date but i can tell you that it is another top top name who I’m fairly certain has never DJ’d in London before so definately a date to stick in your diary

Des would have returned from the States with more unreleased & unknown stuff by then….so make sure that you get there early

Big Thanks to Carl & Maria, always great to have them packing the floor at Solid Hit & also for the brilliant CD, possibly the best one yet! Best wishes to Carl also in fighting the illness that crept up on him after Solid Hit.
Onto our next night on 6^th November & we are delighted to add Andy Killick into the mix as our guest for the night. I seem to be saying this for every guest that we have (because it’s true) but seriously be prepared to be blown away by the rare & obscure quality soul records that Andy has in his box. I can’t wait !

Don’t forget at Solid Hit we don’t have “warm up” DJs, we open at 8pm & are straight into quality 60s Northern. The later you arrive the less quality music there is to hear.

As an added bonus in London for this weekend the chaps at Va Va Voom have their next night on the Saturday so it’s a bit of a soul weekend in London 6^th & 7^th November & really worth travelling for. Check Soul Source for V V Voom details.

We are delighted to announce that our guest DJ for the July night will be Dean Anderson.

The new venue is downstairs at The Shooting Star , 125 Middlesex Street, London E1. Take no notice of the E.1 postcode because it’s only a 3 minutes stagger from Liverpool Street railway & tube station & a whole multitude of bus routes.

If this means anything to beer drinkers, it’s a Fullers pub. The basement has it’s own bar & wooden flooring throughout & it’s more than twice the size of the City Pride so space to dance again!

So all good news ? Well not quite because we’ve managed to lose a DJ! That young scallywag Gene Robertson has decided to hang up his loud shirts & step away from the decks, though he has threatened that the shirts could make occasional return appearences on the dance floor.

A big thanks to Gene for consistently playing sets of quality music over the last few years & he will certainly be missed, as will his high speed dashes to the loo halfway through his set. ohmy.gif

We are very pleased that Shane Cox has agreed to step in to fill the gap. Shane has previously guested at SHS on a couple of occasions so you know the quality that he will bring. As well as many guest spots in the South he is also an occasional guest at the mighty Wilton Allnighters & you don’t get on there unless you can bring some quality to the decks. No pressure then Shane
